Opinion on last night's historical game

13
Vote

by SSreporters

Before I begin, I'd just like to say I'm sorry for the last article. But, for those who thought I was looking for votes, you're wrong. It's YOUR fault that 24 of you guys even voted for 2 sentences! Think about that!" Anyway, my opinion on whether or not the HR record should stand is that it should until Bonds is proven guilty. However, how would we know that he couldn't possibly have broken the record without steroids if Hank Aaron did? If Julio Franco, who is 2,000 years old, can hit a homer, why do we assume Barry can't? Apart from that, let us not just look at Bonds, but look at sports in general. I'd guarantee you, that if these leagues would tell the truth about what's really going on with this whole controversy, sports would be destroyed as we know it. Plus, has anyone else noticed that when Mark McGwire and Jason Giambi had steroid trouble, it flew off the news after a couple of days. But, when Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Rafael Palmeiro were in trouble, it was non-stop news coverage. Double standard perhaps? As for #756, I'm happy that Bonds broke the record for the sake of ESPN being easier to watch (small margin, but still easier). I'm not happy at the fact that Dave O'Brien had little enthusiasm in his voice whatsoever. He handled it well, but just add a little more excitement will you? It's also not good that modern records today in any sport will always be tainted with steroids this, and drugs that. Congrats Barry, you did it, and all of the Bay Area is rejoicing. Your thoughts on this?

I completely agree... Back in the day ball players were use chewing tobacco and smoking cigars in the dugout because they thought it would give them the energy boost they needed. Since professional sports began everyone has been looking for the edge. And what about the pitchers bonds faced... many of them could have also taken steroids. Hank aaron never had to face a pitcher on steroids.

My favorite quote from a baseball player is from John Kruk...a reporter approached him in the clubhouse as he was eating a few hot dogs, drinking beer and smoking cigs before a game...she said "I thought you were an athlete?" Kruk replied..."No, I'm a baseball player"

SSReporters, I resent that comment! LOL...

I agree with you, man...756 should be celebrated...this is just another era in baseball history...the pitchers era, the deadball era, the small parks era, and now the steroid era...

Didn't mean to offend you dude...I like your work, I'm just a stickler for 2 paragraph articles ;)...not like my opinion carries any weight haha

756* What follows the so-called steroid era? The DEATH era?

O'Brien's call was pretty weak, he started off all excited, and then he said "it's gone" like it was a groundout to the second baseman. Jon Miller's was much better, although it seemed pretty scripted. As far as Barry, I have to congratulate him. He accomplished something no one else has, whether he received artificial help or not. Despite the fact he's been a major league douchebag through much of the whole process, he showed some class last night.
