Opening Day Promotions Help

Hey everybody, I'm hoping someone can help me out. I am currently interning for a small Hockey team in Southern Germany. We average about 4,000 fans a game and would like to get more exposure for our opening night. I am looking for some promotional ideas besides the usual on-ice activities during intermission. The town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has roughly 27,000 citizens and we're looking for ideas to mobilize an extra 1,000 or so people. Any help you guys (or gals) can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
