Brett Favre has at least one victory against 30 different NFL teams. He of course has no victories against the Green Bay Packers, since he has played his entire career in Green Bay. That leaves one team, that has never lost to a Brett Favre led team, The Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs will try to keep that record perfect this Sunday, when the Packers visit Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs have the best home record in the NFL since 1990, at 104-35. (.748)
In November of 1993 the Chiefs sacked Favre 4 times, and intercepted him twice, on the way to a 23-16 victory.
In November of 1996, Favre passed for 310 yards, and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome 4 more sacks and an interception. The Chiefs walked away with a 27-20 win.
Favre passed for 272 yards with two scores on October 12 2003, his last meeting with Kansas City, but was sacked 3 times and intercepted again, as the Chiefs won a 40-34 overtime thriller.
Favre already has the NFL record for most career pass attempts, (8497) completions, (5202) and passing touchdowns, (425) in NFL history. He is on pace this season to pass Dan Marino’s record of 61,361 career passing yards. He currently has 2,046 yards passing to lead all NFC quarterbacks He needs a little more than 1800 with 8 games left in the season. . He is second only to Tom Brady in passing yards this season in the entire NFL. Brady has 2,431.
However, Brett is obviously on a mission this year, leading Green Bay to a 6-1 mark, highlighted by a huge comeback victory over Denver last Monday. Brett once again showed that this year is something special with a huge 82 yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings, on the game’s final play in overtime.
Additionally, Brett Favre holds the NFL record for consecutive games played, at 244. A special note of interest, is that Chiefs defensive line coach Tim Krumrie played a role in the first of those games played.. DT Krumrie, then of the Bengals, tackled Don Majkowski, then the Packers QB, on September 20th of 1992, to knock him out of the game with an ankle injury. Favre came in as his replacement, and the rest is history.
Now, granted, Green Bay is hot, and Kansas City is getting by on fumes. That said, the Chiefs, who are doing just enough to get by, and stay in first place in their division, are at home. And home is Arrowhead, where they have the NFL’s best home advantage.
