Once again, I am right!!! Bradley gets the boot!

Sometimes I surprise myself. When I said Marques Colston was going to be a star, yeah I surprised myself when it happened. I said a few days back that the Billy Beane and the A's needed to get rid of Milton Bradley. The A's just did! Bradley came off the DL (his third trip) and played one game. He was designated for assignment after that.

I was definitely surprised. I really didn't think Beane had the balls to do it. I should never doubt him. Maybe he reads The Idiot Chronicles. Maybe I am an idiot. That's more likely. The move is smart though. Bradley can't stay healthy, his contract is up at year's end and guys like Travis Buck, Jack Cust and Chris Snelling need playing time.

Let's see if one of my other predictions happens. Rich Harden just came off the DL. Let's see if he closes. Oh yes and Loiaza might wanna pack his bags.

Beane was smart to get rid of Bradley before he caused a ruckus about not getting enough playing time. He may be able to help another team and play everyday. A's just had too many outfielders with not enough places to play them all. When they use Nick Swisher at first base Dan Johnson has to sit on the bench and with the return of Mike Piazza it could mean Jack Cust will get less at bats. I look for a team to pick up Bradley sooner rather than later.

Bradley will get a job because he is talented. The problem is health and he needs an environment like the A's have...that's going to be a problem. It's all a numbers game. Those who say you shouldn't lose your job to any injury need to ask Drew Bledsoe how that works.

Bradley has been a disappointment for every team who aquired him.

It was Beane's mistake to bring this idiot onto the team in the first place.

I was surprised that he was DFA'd. Not that the A's wanted to get rid of him, but that they wouldn't get someone to bite on a trade.

DFA'd? I'm not familiar Yeah, i don't understand why they don't try to get anything...if he's put on waiver (that's where he is right, in order to be sent down), do the A's get a compensatory pick or something?

He does have time to attempt a trade but really he knew he wasn't going to get much for a guy who, though talented, can't stay healthy. This speaks loudly for Travis Buck especially...and yet another nod for my boy Jack Cust. I love being right.

I guess the risk of damaging the clubhouse and giving rookies time outweighed just moving bradley out for a prospect or 2...fair enough... Anyone know about compensation?

Being designated for assignment (DFA) means the A's have 10 days to trade him or try to get him thru waivers. Bradley can refuse being sent down so the waiver wire is no issue and thus no compensation. Unless someone owes Billy Beane a favor, Bradley will have an unconditional release coming shortly.

You said the A's would get rid of Milton Bradley? Way to go out on a limb....

Well it made sense to me, but I really didn't think Beane would actually do it. It was just basic math to me.
