On the Patriots "running up the score"

== I am tired of all the beat writers whining that the New England Patriots are needlessly "running up the score" on their out-manned, over-matched opponents. Nonsense! ' Last time I checked, the Patriots were playing a schedule against other NFL teams. To listen to these guys one would think the Patriots were playing against Division II NCAA teams, and taking advantage of their superior talent. I honestly don't remember the Nebraska teams of the late 80's getting this much flack for trouncing the likes of Troy State 83-3 on any given Saturday. Yet somehow, the Patriots are constantly maligned for going for it on 4th and 1 late in the fourth quarter instead of kicking a field goal . . .
To my mind, it is far more disrepectful to "patronize" the opponent by assuming the game is over once you have what you believe is a "commanding lead" . . . What are the Pats to do once the score is 38-0 . . . start taking knees instead of running plays? Do we pull all the starters and replace them with the second string, to even further insult the opposing teams starters? Better yet, perhaps at that point Belichick should get together with the opposing coach and politely agree to "go easy" on them. That conversation would go something like this:
Belichick: "Um, Joe . . . we're kicking your ass pretty bad here, what'ya say I put in our practice squad and save your guys any further embarrassment?"
Gibbs: "What are you talking about Bill, it's only 38-0 . . . ? My guys are about to dial it up a notch. I figure Brady's arm has to be wearing out by now, and Moss has to be getting bored . . . "
Belichick: "Seriously Joe, once these guys get rolling there isn't alot I can do. It's like the perfect storm if you know what I mean?"
Gibbs: "Look you little gnome, I'm not going to say this again, take a hike!"
Belichick: "Okay, but in the post-game interview don't say I didn't try to warn you."
Here's the bottom line folks. If the opposing team doesn't want the Patriots to score any more points on them all they have to do is play better defense and stop them . . . If your guys are't good enough, and talented enough, then get some new guys. That's exactly what the Patriots did in the off-season when they realized their corp of receivers wasn't good enough to beat the likes of the Colts. That's just my 2-cents . . .

I'm so sick of the "pats cheated", "pats run up the score", "pats are disrespectful to other teams" talk..... If anyone out there thinks the patriots are the only team who used a camera man on their sidelines, I have a bridge to sell you.
The haters - they're just jealous.
