[edit] Biography

Born on July 6, 1967 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Omar Olivares (Omar (Palqu) Olivares) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Anaheim Angels, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 12 year career. Olivares broke into the bigs on August 18, 1990 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.71 ERA in 167.1 innings pitched in 1991, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Omar Olivares's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1999, when he posted a 4.16 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 85 batters. However, others believe that it was 1992, when he posted a 3.84 ERA and struck out 124 batters.
