Sorry for the delay, I have been on vacation. As for my other previews I realize that I sort of messed up the records, but what I was trying to convey was who I think will make the play offs. So, don't worry so much about the records as much as the teams who I have making the play offs. Now onto the NFC West. A fairly weak division last year with the exception of the NFC Champion Seahwaks, I expect much to change, we should have a new division winner on our hands with the improvement of the Cardinals and Rams. But anyhow here it is, a preview of each individual team.
49er's: Wow. This team is bad. Sure they picked up Vernon Davis in the draft, but that still will not fix many problems for this team. I actually thought Eric Johnson was a fairly good TE. I don't expect Davis to help Alex Smith much who looked lost last year; and rightfully so, Alex had no talent around him, and things look the same this year. This team is a couple of years away from contention, however don't blame Smith for the failures, not even Dan Marino could get this offense going. Record: 3-13
Rams: Here is a team that I think could be a big sleeper in this division. The Rams picked up one of the most gifted offensive minds in the offseason: Scott Linehan. With the addition of coach Linehan I see the Rams returning to the days of the greatest show on turf; we all know they have the talent if Bulger can stay healthy. Also expect Linehan to use talented running back Steven Jackson more than ever as he showed signs of greatness last year when Joe Vitt took over. So while the defense still worries me, I think the Rams are bonafide contenders. Record: 8-8
Seahawks: Boy what can I say, this team cried about the officiating for a long time after the super bowl and don't expect much to change as the Seahawks struggle through a bad year. Losing Steve Huthcinson was bad, and while they still have Walter Jones, don't expect an aging Shaun Alexander to continue his dominance of the last couple of years. Also while they payed big bucks for Nate Burrleson I really do not believe he was worth it, he is a second or third option at best. The only bright spot was the signing of Julian Peterson, but I don't think that will be enough. Expect the curse of the super bowl losers to continue for atleast one more year. Record: 6-10
Cardinals: Cardinals fans get ready for one entertaining season of football, because the Cardinals are going to put up A LOT of points this season. This offense may just be the most prolific in the NFL on paper as the Cardinals have Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, and Eddgerin James; all pro bowlers. With those kinds of skill players helping him out, expect Kurt Warner to be fairly effective and expect Denny Green to be a highly touted coach again. While the defense is bad, I think they can hold teams to a low enough score so that the amazing offense can take over. I know this sounds crazy, but Cardinals fans; start gearing up for the play offs. Record: 9-7
