Omar's Preview: NFC East

As the football season approaches, I thought I would break down each individual division. So I am going to start with the NFC East. The NFC East, with the exception of the Philadelphia Eagles was loaded top to bottom last year with the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and Dallas Cowboys all finishing better than 9-7. It seems likely that the division will be loaded top to bottom again this year. Here is a team by team look:
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles will have a tough year this year. I don't expect them to do terrible but without a legit number one reciever or a legit 1000 yard running back I don't see the offense being very good. Sure the defense is pretty good, but it is not good enough to hold opponents under 14 points a game, which is what it will have to do for that offense. If the Eagles prove me wrong I'd be very happy because I am a big Donovan McNabb fan, but i see them going 7-9
Dallas Cowboys: Wow.......if there is one word to describe this team last year it would be inconsistent. The team came out looking like an elite team one game, and then a horrible team the next. The result? The Cowboys finished with an average record of 9-7 which is respectable but nowhere near what their potential is. In the offseason they acquired Terrell Owens(in case you didn't know) but I still don't think they will win the super bowl like many people are predicting. However, the play offs are a realistic goal. I expect them to go 11-5
Washington Redskins: This team was close to a superbowl birth in my book. They had the veteran quarterback(Mark Brunell), the workhorse running back(Clinton Portis), a great defense, and finally the great coach(Joe Gibbs). So while they did make the play offs and beat the Buccaneers, I expect them to go much further this year as they added the one piece I thought they needed: a true number one reciever to take pressure off of Moss, that reciever being Antwaan Randle El. Also the addition of an offensive mastermind doesn't hurt either(Al Saunders). I see this team competing for the Super Bowl, and in the regular season going 13-3.
New York Giants: The New York Giants had a very good year last year. They went 11-5 and won the NFC East. They also earned themselves the number 3 seed in the NFC. They got smacked in the play offs by the Carolina Panthers, but it was still a lot of progress from the year before last for the Giants, and from Eli's 1st to 2nd year. Now as the chronicles of Eli continue to be written I see the Giants being a legit force once again as the addition of LaVar Arrington will help strenghten that defense. Expect Eli to be the strongest quarterback statistically out of his first round class(Philip Rivers, and Big Ben Roethlisberger), and expect the Giants to be pretty good, I have them going 12-4
