Ollie Poole (Oliver Lamar Poole) was born on April 18, 1922 in Gloster, Mississippi. After going to high school at Crosby (MS), Poole attended the University of Mississippi and the University of North Carolina. Poole made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the New York Yankees. He played in the AAFC for 2 years, playing for the Baltimore Colts and New York Yankees over the course of his 2 year AAFC career.Poole also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Detroit Lions the entire time.

Most people believe that 1947 was Ollie Poole's best year.
