Ohio State visits Louisiana for national championship

LSU got the 14th game of the season to be their home game, just like they drew it up. The SEC propaganda machine was in overdrive, and I have to give them credit for being so effective; all I heard about during the BCS Show on Fox was that LSU didn't lose a game in regulation. This whole thing was just so preposterous enough to work. Unbelievable.

LSU is a very good team, but one has to agree that their close wins, and a evidential losses to unranked opponents is more indicative of their performance than the blowout win against VT. In my mind, that's the only reason that Virginia Tech was dropped down in the human polls, as opposed to the computer polls. In the end, it seems counterintuitive, because the human eye can see that VT and LSU are completely different than that early season matchup. Then again, it's obvious that those people don't watch the games.

The team that really has reason to be upset is Georgia, and Mark Richt was visibly so when he was interviewed. He seemed to have no issues breaking the SEC solidarity and voicing his opinion about being docked points for not winning or even playing in the SEC Championship game. He's right on the money too, because while there's no written rule, there seemed to be an unspoken one to blackball teams from the National Championship game if they don't win their conference; it happened last year too. Let's be fair, it's a good rule - if it was written down. Everyone agrees on it, behind closed doors.

All in all, I am disappointed that it was LSU getting a trip, just because I thought the human voters would not allow a team a third chance for a championship. They love giving different teams a shot when there are equal candidates - and there were by the dozen. On paper, LSU is as deserving as any other team, so I wouldn't want to demean their resume, but I would like everyone to stop referring to their losses as overtime losses. The truth is they're the same as any other loss, no better.

On the bright side, it seems we have a system where a team isn't penalized for losing late. Both contestants lost their 2nd last game of the season, any other year this would nix them from the game. Take that for what it's worth.

Mark Richt had a point, if you was just going to go ahead and screw them over, then you should've ranked LSU ahead of them last week for even qualifying for the SEC Championship instead of getting their hopes up

Absolutely. Georgia really has a case. And with all this talk about Georgia playing the best they took a gimpy LSU team that barely beat Tennessee. Obviously the head-to-head results were huge.

Let's get one thing straight....LSU is better than any other 2 loss team out there. So unless ya'll think that Hawaii should be playing OSU, you are way off base. Yes LSU did lose to Ken-yucky in triple overtime, on the road. Check yourself boys: 1) Ken-yucky was ranked in the top 10 at the time and has an unbelievable QB who will be playing on Sundays. #2 Georgia, who ya'll say have a case, lost at Tennessee by 21 points, LSU beat Tennessee. #3 LSU should have been ranked ahead of Georgia already, which ya'll already stated. #4 LSU lost at home to Arkansas in triple overtime, and Arkansas has two pretty good running backs on that squad. Sorry if yiu boys don't like it, but LSU is as deserving as any team out there...face it. However, I will still say this...IF WWE HAD A PLAYOFF, THIS WOULDN'T BE A TOPIC, WOULD IT??? Geaux Tigers, and welcome home Coach Miles!!!!!!

They are better? Are you sure? Because I'm fairly positive that we don't know, and it's just a huge judgment call.

And those awesome teams you're talking about that they lost to are Kentucky and Arkansas, two unranked teams in the final poll. Do you know why it matters what they are in the final poll and not when they played? Because rankings are clearly meaningless in the season.

This awesome team that has two running backs has... TWO RUNNING BACKS. That means that they can only do things ON THE GROUND. And they aren't awesome. They are bad. All LSU had to do was put 11 people at the line, because the ar-Kansas receivers and quarterbacks are utterly useless, and they couldn't even do that.

And pardon me for spitting on this "they lost in overtime" thing. Does their record say 10-0-2? No, it's 10-2 and we have an OVERTIME. Meaning, a loss or win isn't any different than any other less no matter how it came about.

LSU came back to send it to overtime in one game, and in the other game lost a lead to send it to overtime. Does that make their losses any different in people's eyes? No. Overtime loss = Loss, no two ways about it.

They don't not deserve to be in the game, but to say they are clearly deserving is to just be blind, the other handful of teams have just as good a case.

I am an LSU fan but doubt that LSU could beat Va. Tech by that many points again and may even lose to them if they were to play again.

I agree with part of what you said; at 12-0 Hawaii should be playing in the Nation Title game...against LSU. No, you say let's look at the facts: You asked me, "Do you know why it matters what they are in the final poll and not when they played? Because rankings are clearly meaningless in the season", well look at the teams in the Final Polls. Of those 25 teams, LSU played 5 of them and went 4-1 (victories against Va. Tech, Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee) and a loss to Arkansas. Who else played 5 teams in the top 25 (Final Rankings) and if they did, did the go 4-1??? BTW.... Since you brought it up, for the record I never said anything about an OT loss, not being a loss. If it wasn't, we'd be 13-0 right? I simply said LSU is dersrving of this, I'm saying this Arkansas finished 8-4, 4-4 in the SEC and aren't a bad football team. Oh, and "SuckaT" you might want to check your polls again brother, Arkansas is ranked #25 in the AP Poll, #24 in the Coaches Poll, #25 in the Harris Interactive Poll, and #27 in the BCS standings.

Let me ask you this "SuckaT", if a "bad" (as you put it) Arkansas team happens to beat Missouri, what will you say then?

BTW you might want to check this little website out to brother... http://www.m...om/index.htm

Oh ans please note, I am not supporting the BCS and saying they got it right. I hate the BCS and say we NEED A PLAYOOF NOW!!!!!

What will I need to say? ar-Kansas beat Missouri. If you bring that up, why don't we talk about Penn State and Wisconsin wiping the floor with Tennessee and Arkansas in the BCS?

You know what one game means devoid of anything around it? Nothing. It's not a statement of fact for anything. However, framed in the fact that LSU was playing an actual season at the time, the Arkansas loss means everything.

They aren't not deserving, but they had the #1 ranking twice and floundered it away, I think it's fair to give another team a shot. How about VT, a team that had no losses to unranked opponents, home or otherwise, won their conference, and was a completely different team than they were when they got handled by LSU.

They got a huge benefit of SEC propaganda, and it sucks because they're a good team, and I have nothing against them. But I think a lot of people now cringe when talking about the SEC when all we hear is that their football is the best, and their champion has to play in the NC game and all that nonsense. Yeah, good football, leave it at that instead of shoving it down everyone's throat.

Tell the media, not me. I agree Va. Tech isnt the same team as when LSU played them, but LSU wasn't the same team when they played Arkansas as when the beat Florida. Point is this, it's still the same players and the results are the same, LSU beat Va. Tech...and lost to Kenyucky and Arkansas. Sorry if you feel it is "SEC propaganda" but last year I heard that Florida didn't deserve to be there either, and what happened? Now before you say, "LSU ain't Florida", that's not what I am saying. Here is what I am saying....The SEC is the best overall conference in the nation and they have a lot of respect. Fact is fact!!!

LSU..... There is no reason for this team to be in the National Title game. They have "2" losses. I don't really care who they were to, and when they lost them. They have "2" losses. That is the only thing we have to look at. Ohio State shouldn't be there either. They played NO ONE, and only got there because everyone above them choked at the end of the year. Even with a blow out victory of OSU with wins by Oklahoma, USC, Georgia, or Hawaii, LSU can't claim a unified National Title. The only way this can end is a split Title. Hell even Kansas can make an argument with a win over V Tech. There is no clear cut winner this year. And thats the biggest shame of them all.

Hey yourboy87... You know what, I agree witha lot of what you said, except for one thing: this is how it is, like it or not. The BCS ruins Div 1 college football, thank goodness for March Madness and the College World Series.

BTW yourboy87, If LSU and OSU both don't beling there who does? Hawaii and ???? I do agree with you to a point, because the BCS sucks. Ask that 12-0 Auburn team, the 13-0 Boise State team, or the 12-0 Tulane team; did anyof them get to play for the National Championship. This is the Bowl Crap System and we are stuck with it.
