Ohio State visits Louisiana for national championship

LSU got the 14th game of the season to be their home game, just like they drew it up. The SEC propaganda machine was in overdrive, and I have to give them credit for being so effective; all I heard about during the BCS Show on Fox was that LSU didn't lose a game in regulation. This whole thing was just so preposterous enough to work. Unbelievable.
LSU is a very good team, but one has to agree that their close wins, and a evidential losses to unranked opponents is more indicative of their performance than the blowout win against VT. In my mind, that's the only reason that Virginia Tech was dropped down in the human polls, as opposed to the computer polls. In the end, it seems counterintuitive, because the human eye can see that VT and LSU are completely different than that early season matchup. Then again, it's obvious that those people don't watch the games.
The team that really has reason to be upset is Georgia, and Mark Richt was visibly so when he was interviewed. He seemed to have no issues breaking the SEC solidarity and voicing his opinion about being docked points for not winning or even playing in the SEC Championship game. He's right on the money too, because while there's no written rule, there seemed to be an unspoken one to blackball teams from the National Championship game if they don't win their conference; it happened last year too. Let's be fair, it's a good rule - if it was written down. Everyone agrees on it, behind closed doors.
All in all, I am disappointed that it was LSU getting a trip, just because I thought the human voters would not allow a team a third chance for a championship. They love giving different teams a shot when there are equal candidates - and there were by the dozen. On paper, LSU is as deserving as any other team, so I wouldn't want to demean their resume, but I would like everyone to stop referring to their losses as overtime losses. The truth is they're the same as any other loss, no better.
On the bright side, it seems we have a system where a team isn't penalized for losing late. Both contestants lost their 2nd last game of the season, any other year this would nix them from the game. Take that for what it's worth.
