Ohio State Still On Top; Irish Fall to Fifth in AGM Poll

16
Vote

Despite still winning their opener 14-10 over Georgia Tech, Notre Dame fell to fifth in this week's ArmchairGM User Top 25 College Football Poll, while Ohio State still holds the top spot.

The Irish didn't receive a single first-place vote after receiving three in the preseason poll. Ohio State, meanwhile, got 10 of 14 first-place votes. Texas, Auburn and Louisville gained the other four with the Longhorns getting two.

Texas moved into the vacated second spot with Auburn close behind in third. USC moved up to fourth, and West Virginia fell from third to sixth.

Tennessee was the big mover of the week after beating California in the opener. The Volunteers moved up from No. 24 to tenth, while Cal dropped from No. 11 to No. 22.

Wow, there were a lot fewer voters this week. I wonder if that's why West Virginia fell from third to sixth despite playing a pretty good game.

I thought that was curious too. Especially since they rolled pretty easily. It wasn't close like the Notre Dame-Georgia Tech game was.

Having a few days to vote instead of a few weeks is going to cut down on voters. Unfortunatly it should be the other way around (more votes now) since teams have actually played a game.

Why cut off voting on Tuesday?

Good point. I'd cut it off 24 hrs before kickoff of the first Top 25 game of the week. (That was we can see results before the next weekend gets underway.)

That would be Friday at noon just about every week.

The sooner in the week it comes out, the better. That gives people more time to discuss the results and build up to the weekend. If you haven't voted by Monday or Tuesday, you probably aren't voting at all.

Like you, Frisky? ;-)

I voted in time, it dodn't matter to me when it's over. I was jus trying to offer help to others that didn't get in on time.

Yeah, I'm not gonna rank all 25 teams since I don't watch them all. I would happily give my top 5 but that's not what's at question here. Let me know when they start the Armchair Top 5 College Football Poll.

How hard is to vote just after all the games have been played, that way the Armchair polls are open and people can anticipate the following weeks mathups all week. A lot of hype can build up over the course of the week to make a game look better on television (see Fresno State against USC last year). Fresno suddenly became a national power just cause the networks wanted people to watch the game. It was only late this time because of the Miami/FSU game occured on a Monday. In the future, I think the time alotted was plenty.

Agreed. The only reason people struggled to get the polls out was there was football on a Monday. With in a week or two there will be Thursday night games, that almost always showcase Top 25 teams. This means the AGM votes need to be in by Tuesday night so we can have the polls ready to go by Wednesday.

Every poll is useless, though this one has to be the absolute worst... a completely meaningless compliation of bogus data.
