Ohio State Holds Top Spot, 38 Teams Receive Votes in AGMVC Poll

12
Vote

Ohio State held on to their top spot in the AGMVC College Football Poll this week after posting a win against Big Ten rival Penn State. OSU took all but two first place votes as Louisville held its single first place vote and Michigan notched one as well.

Thirty-eight teams brought in at least one point this week. The most notable movement at the top was West Virginia’s fall from four to six and Georgia’s fall from eight to 11 despite both teams remaining undefeated. TCU fell as well on their off week. Clemson and California made the most prominent jumps.

New to the top 25 are Georgia Tech and the trendy pick of the week, Rutgers. Arizona State and Boston College lost their spots to these two newbies.

Having missed most of the weekend's games, I abstained this week. I think it's going to be interesting to see how close the AGM poll is to the AP poll come week 10, though.

Who has Missouri beat?

Nobody great, but that's hardly the point. It's how they're playing. Their offense, led by Chase Daniel, has looked great this year. This early in the season, you have to go by what you've seen in most cases, because a lot of teams haven't played anyone. We have TCU at 20 (they're 17 and 15 in the major polls) and they have defeated Texas Tech, Baylor and UC Davis. Rutgers has defeated North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio and Howard. Boise State has defeated Sacramento State, Oregon State, Wyoming and Hawaii. Wake is getting votes, and they've defeated Syracuse, Duke, UConn and Ole Miss.

So, my point isn't that Missouri should be recognized for defeating Murray State, Ole Miss, New Mexico and Ohio. Just that I think they've looked good beating those teams, averaging 471 total yards of offense, and winning by an average of 25 points.

Mizzou should really be #25 instead of 'Bama, but one person put 'Bama really high so 'Bama got to stay. (I like saying 'Bama.)

'Bama.

DANG! One spot higher than I had Missouri. If only I'd voted them 14 instead. That's not the solution, though. I honestly think I have them overranked at 15. I was gonna ask why the voter had Alabama so high in a week that they lost to a ranked team, but I restrained myself. Until now. Oh, well.
