Need a new car? Look no further than the car dealership Big Red Sports/Imports in Norman, Okla.. Why here one can find a job working for the dealership about five hours a week, but for tax purposes earn $18,000 a year, a nice college summer job if you can get it. Oh yeah, and the Big Boom you hear out in Sooner land, that’s just the hopes of another potential run at the a National Championship going up in smoke even before stepping foot onto the practice field for fall practice. Let’s see, a National Championship ring or $18,000…It’s good to see where Rhett Bomar’s priorities were this summer.
The question that should be asking here isn’t the obvious ones of what, why, and when…It’s more like, Since when has Oklahoma had an import car scene? Now we all have tortured ourselves into watching the movies "The Fast and the Furious" & "Too Fast, Too Furious"…Oddly enough though, I can’t seem to recall them being filmed in the OK state. More along the lines of SOCAL & Miami. Speaking of which, Rhett got unpaid for his services at Big Red Sports/Imports…Clearly he could’ve at least doubled or tripled his summer earnings if he "worked" in those locations.
Now like in any public relations ploy, Mr. Bonehead said his wished he "could take it back." Really, exactly what would you like to take back? The fact that you realized you did get unpaid for your five hours a week services…The fact that you left a bigger paper trail than the one found on the toilet paper roll in your bathroom for OU to follow back to you and now you’re off the team? Don’t you flush that stuff? Or plain & simple, the fact that you got caught? Which one is it? If you had to do this all over again, what would you change? My guess, probably cut down on the toilet paper intake so you wouldn’t get caught. Let’s be real here, that’s the only reason why you wish you "could take it back." And as Bob Stoops said so brilliantly Bonehead was dismissed from the team for "knowingly" breaking the rules. Thanks for the little clarification there…I was beginning to think earning $18,000 for working five hours a week was the norm. You actually mean Bomar knowingly broke NCAA rules by accepting wages from a car dealership in Norman, Okla., for work that he didn't do…Get out of here. Go Figure.
