Inspired by Joebook's news item yesterday, the Official AGM Points League has been created, and is eagerly waiting for any and all users to sign up. This year, Yahoo! allows for custom URL's, so here's ours: http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/armchairgm

Here's the low-down:

The Rules

Online Draft - Very tentatively Saturday, March 24th, 3:30pm EDT... But e-mail me with problems, conflicts, etc., and we can change the day and/or time.

Rosters: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

Points Only scoring (not head-to-head or roto)

Maximum of 20 teams

August 26, 2007 trade deadline

Stat modifiers for hitters are exactly those of a run estimator called Estimated Runs Produced. It's simple, and it gives a number comparable to actual runs for each team:

Runs = AB*(-.0976) + H*(.5776) + 2B*(.32) + 3B*(.64) + HR*(.96) + SB*(.16) + CS*(-.28) + BB (.32)

For pitchers, the modifiers are:

Runs = IP*(.92) - ER*(.91)

Yeah, I was waiting for someone else to start the 5x5 roto league, at which point we can all join it as well. As for draft times, since your the first voter/commentor, what day/time do you think would be ideal to accomodate the intercontinental nature of our membership?

Well, judging by the fact it is 24 rounds (!), and we are 5 hours ahead, then it would need to finish by about 9:30 my time. Now, considering it is 24 rounds, and in the NFL one, 15 rounds took an hour and a half, this one should take two and a half hours (on the safe side). So starting it at 7PM my time, 2PM ET should be fine.

Then we have the issue that the clocks might go forwards around there - indeed it will either be the day after, or the week before or after. If the clocks go back before the date of the draft, then it would need to be 1PM. If it is after the date of the draft, then 2PM ET is fine. But does ET do the same as GMT, and go forward an hour in March? In which case we don't have to worry.

In conclusion! 2PM should be the latest time - if by chance I miss the last few rounds, I doubt I'll be missing out on much, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I love the Saturday - that's the best day for me.

I should reduce roster sizes, too. I was trying to be hardcore MLB-realistic, but maybe that's not the best thing if it means the draft is going to take, like, three hours. Luckily, all of these things can be changed...

I like the realism idea, it's just that it's hard with pitching in MLB. Keep it to 20 - that should be fine.

It currently has the draft at 6:30GMT - that should be perfect.
