Watching the Miami Heat game yesterday I was appalled at the refs. Obviously Shaq is the toughest guy to officiate in the game, but then I'm not saying anything you don't know. He constantly bulldozes his way into the painted area with a series of shoulder blocks and elbows till he's literally 2 feet from the hoop. But, yesterday the refs really missed one in the fourth quarter when Shaq was called for his sixth foul late in the game. He clearly took a charge but was deemed to be outside of the mini circle. Are we now at the point that we need painted and circled zones to indicate which fouls can occur on a particular spot on the floor?
We can have the no hand check zone out past the foul line and the no setting a pick in the lane area. Heck we can have a zone for everthing on the court, a you can travel if you drive from the wing or baseline, but not from the elbow area. Watching a game offers no consistency in the officiating.
