For everyone interested in anything to do with the Oakland Raiders, here is where you should go to find out the latest news. I will be giving news on the Silver and Black for their 2007 season (hopefully better than the last). This will include game recaps. Any comments, votes, etc., would be much appreciated. I will be editing this page and putting new information into the season. If anyone can tell me a better way of putting news on please tell me.
Coach Kiffin
27 January, 2007![]()
Lane Kiffin has been introduced as Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders replacing the disappointing Art Shell. Kiffin becomes the sixteenth head coach of the Raiders franchise. Interestingly he is also the youngest coach at 31 in Raiders history. Working with the likes of Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart in the College football game Kiffin does have experience but has been left in a very bad position.
Honors for Asomugha
27 January, 2007![]()
Starting Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha was awarded the 5th Annual Commitment to Excellence Award at a presentation dinner. The award was given to the player who best exemplifies pride, poise and spirit of the Oakland Raiders. The Cornerback led the Raiders with eight interceptions in the 2006 season.
Burgess into Pro Bowl
27 January, 2007![]()
Oakland Raiders Defensive End Derrick Burgess has been named to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year. Burgess led the Raiders with 11 sacks in 2006 and ranks sixth in that category through 14 league games. Burgess now has 27 sacks in 30 games! He is really the heart and soul of the Silver and Black.
Curry Catches Courage Award
27 January, 2007![]()
Wide Reciever Ronald Curry has earned the 2006 Oakland Raiders Ed Block Courage Award by overcoming a season-ending torn Achilles Tendon injury in 2005 and returning. He lead the Raiders in receiving and receiving yards in the 2006 season over Randy Moss. The award is named after Ed Block, longtime head Athletic Coach of the Raiders.
Intercepting Machine
27 January, 2007![]()
Kick Returner and Cornerback Chris Carr officially racked up the second longest interception return in Raiders history in 2006 against the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the match. Carr came from a nobody in 2005 to a danger man in the 2006 season.
