breakdown: today we will talk ND secondary v. UM's receivers. as many may remember notre dames secondary was a glaring weakness for them last year. this year isnt looking that much better for the troubled group. they still have a helluva saftey sitting back there, but other than that, they need some upgrades. the class of '06 brings immediate help. darrin walls was a highly touted db coming outta hs and wont dissapoint. hes got great speed (runs a 4.4 fourty) and has decent size for a db (6'0"). raeshon mcneil was also another coveted db coming outta hs. he also runs a 4.4 and is 6'0". they are the future for ND's secondary. though, come the third game of the season, ND might wish they had a time machine.
enter UM receivers. with the departure of Jason Avant the wolerines lose a huge piece of the receiving core and though he led the team in many of the major receiving catagories (82 receptions, 1,007 yards, and 8 touchdowns.), they will miss his quiet, yet steady, leadership the most. with the return of steve breaston (26 rec. 291 yds) and the emergance of mario manningham (27 rec. 433 yds) a year ago, UM has two solid receivers already. there is a third that many have forgotten..Adrian Arrington. Arrington left during the first game last year with what turned out to be a season ending injury. he'll be 100% this fall, and will be the big man the wolverines missed last year. at 6'4" with a 4.5 40 yard dash, he reminds me of the late braylon edwards. a bit slower, yes, but hes got the soft hands and isnt afraid to go up and get a ball just as edwards would do. all in all, come the third game this season, these three will be chomping at the bit to get out on that field and go at the ND secondary. if henne makes the throws, they will make the catches.
