Not so Green in Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Dennis Green only a day after the team finished off a dismal season with a 5-11 record.
Green spent 3 disappointing years with the Cardinals. His overall record over that time was 16-32. He was brought in to turn around a broken franchise, but seemed unable to make any real impact moves. He grabbed the interest of fans this year with the acquisition of Edgerrin James and the drafting of Matt Leinart. James had a disappointing year behind a poor offensive line, as he averaged 3.4 yards per carry. Leinart put up decent numbers and looked like he will become the quarterback of the future for the Cardinals.
The firing of Green comes as no surprise to many in the football world. Arizona will pay Green a $2.5 million buyout, as the coach still had one year remaining on his contract.
