It's been a slow but diligent process, in which the perennial powerhouse is being brought to its knees. This is quite a change from the days of the 90's when FSU was widely considered the premiere program, with the premiere talent, and the premier coaching staff. Now, with the staff overturned, the coaching questioned, and the talent thin, Florida State has had only one respectable season since reaching consecutive national championship games in 1999 and 2000. Long would be the day when FSU fans would look back at Chris Weinke as a great quarterback.
Florida State has lost another opener, as the Clemson Tigers came in like a, well, tiger [lion] and out like a lamb. They jumped over Florida State, scoring twice before the Seminoles were even able to get on the board. Fueled by the Thunder and Lightning running game of Davis and Spiller, the vaunted (again) FSU defense was struggling to keep up - that is until the second half. In typical Bowden fashion, Tommy allowed the other team back into the game after Clemson had FSU dead to rights half-way through. While Clemons is 1-0, don't be too shocked to see them blow leads, and lose close games, as has been their fashion under Tommy Bowden.
The ACC is weak this year, and gone are the days when FSU hadn't lost a game in the ACC; here are the days, when FSU hasn't won a game in the ACC. Who ranked Florida State 19th to begin with? Their talent pool is severely depleted now that national recruiting is the craze, and their offense reminds me of outdated Big 10 plotting hogs. Their defense, while still athletic is completely predictable. Mickey Andrews has been on the sidelines for 20 some years as the right-hand man of Bobby Bowden, maybe it's time to not just flip the associate coaching group, but the entire regime.
Jenn Sterger must be outraged.
