Nippy Jones (Vernal Leroy Jones) was born on June 29, 1925 in Los Angeles, California. He made his Major League debut on June 8, 1946 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1948, his rookie year, he hit .254 with 10 home runs and 81 RBI. Jones played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Braves over the course of his 8 year career.
Most people believe that Nippy Jones's best season was 1948, when he knocked in 81 runs.
