Born on August 15, 1953 in Villa Altagracia, San Cristobal (Dominican Republic), Nino Espinosa (Arnulfo Acevedo Espinosa) played for the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays over the course of his 8 year career. Espinosa broke into the bigs on September 13, 1974 with the New York Mets, and put up a 3.42 ERA in 200 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Nino Espinosa's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1979, when he posted a 3.65 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 88 batters. However, others believe that it was 1977, when he posted a 3.42 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 105 batters.
