Niners Sign Vernon Davis

After an all-nighter at the negotiating table, the San Francisco 49ers came to terms with 6th-round draft pick TE Vernon Davis. Davis signed a five-year deal that is in the $23 million range but could also be worth an estimated $25 million; the deal includes $15.5 million in guaranteed money. The deal makes Davis the NFL's highest paid tight end.

It's too bad guys don't have to play before being made the highest paid at anything.

Amen. If anything, Tony Gonzalez deserves to be the highest paid TE. In 2004 or 2005 he had the most receptions of any receiver in the NFL. Incredible.

I'd put my money on Antonio Gates as being the best TE in the Game, but apparantley Vernon Davis is going to be that type of player with even more speed. We'll see.
