Born on July 3, 1869 in Logansport, Indiana, Nig Cuppy (George Joseph Cuppy) played for the Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis Perfectos, Boston Beaneaters and Boston Americans over the course of his 10 year career. Cuppy broke into the bigs on April 16, 1892 with the Cleveland Spiders, and put up a 2.51 ERA in 376 innings pitched in 1892, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Nig Cuppy's best season was 1892, when he posted a 2.51 ERA, won 28 games and struck out 103 batters.
