2006 (Freshman): Moved to safety during spring practice and also saw time at wide receiver, where he appeared in 11 games and started nine times ... finished third on the team with 32 catches and was named Freshman All-Big Ten and earned a spot as a Sporting News Freshman All-American for his efforts ... made a career-high five catches for 56 yards at Illinois one week after leading the team with four catches for 45 yards against Wisconsin ... scored his first career touchdown on a 9-yard pass from Kellen Lewis in the first quarter against Southern Illinois.
2005: Redshirted the 2005 season.
Prep: Wide receiver and defensive back for head coach Elliott Lightfoot at Vincent High School, where he earned all-state defense and all-conference offense and defense laurels as a senior ... earned second team all-conference honors as a junior and third team accolades as a sophomore ... Vincent finished 2004 with an 8-2 record and won the city championship ... caught 32 passes for 682 yards and nine touchdowns ... on the defensive side of the ball, Polk had eight interceptions, including three returned for touchdowns.
