News flash! I am now an LA Dodgers fan!

OK, admittedly this won't make the 11pm news but for me, it is a huge deal. Maybe some of my cyberfriends, either here or in other places online will be shocked.
My father took me to Mets games way back when they played at the Pologrounds. I was only three and four at the time and he said he could get me in for free because I could walk under the turnstile. Dad was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and he still tried to follow them, even after 1958, when they came out here. In those days, before the internet and all-sports cable channels it was very difficult. Scores from the west coast never even made it to the next morning's edition of the New York newspapers.
2008 marks the 50th year the Dodgers have played in Los Angeles. By May, when the season is in full swing, I will have lived here for two years. Despite the higher costs of living, the wacky fires, the crime, and the political tensions, I have decided to stay. It is about time I started acting like I belong here.
It helps that the way the last two Mets seasons have ended have been completely disgusting (Carlos Beltran looking at a third strike; the whole Mets team lapsing into mass ennui and throwing away their leading in one of the most epic collapses in baseball history).
