By now it's pretty obvious that Aaron Small's magical ride is over and he's turned back into a pumpkin. He dropped to 0-2 on the year when he allowed 4 runs in 4.1 IP. A no-name brigade of un-Yankee like relievers finished off the game by combining for 3.2 hittless, scoreless innings.
Tom Glavine improved to 7-2 with a solid 6 inning, 2 run performance. He scattered 7 hits and 4 walks, but managed to keep the ball in the yard. Billy Wagner, just one day after allowing the Yankees to score 4 runs in .1 innings, made things interesting in the 9th, but ultimately he nailed down the save, his 9th of the year.
Carlos Delgado and David Wright provided most of the offense, each with a home run. Delgado's was a 3 run shot, while Wright's was a solo one. Every Mets' starting offensive player with the exception of Kaz Matsui had exactly 1 hit.
Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, and Bernie Williams each had 3 hits, but the rest of the line-up that featured Robinson Cano batting fifth, was utterly unimpressive. Alex Rodriguez was 0-4 and left 7 men on base. Kelly Stinnett was 0-4 with 3 k's and 6 men left on base.
