New York Jets Report Card-Week 3

The Jets ran their record to 2-1 with a 28-20 win over the Buffalo Bills this weekend. Here's the report card:

Quarterback- A Chad Pennington did another good job managing the game going 19-29 for 183 yards and a touchdown, not throwing an interception. Isn't he just terrific in the redzone as well?

Running Back- C- The running game still isn't getting very far, Kevan Barlow rushing only for 31 yards. Leon Washington showed a little life to the game, rushing 7 times for 25 yards as well as catching 2 passes for 52 yards. Here's hoping they keep rotating him in with some quick hitting plays getting him out on the edge.

Wide Receivers- A- Laveranues Coles, listed as questionable going into the game, was there for Chad as always, catching 10 passes for 78 yards. Jerricho Cotchery also made his presence felt catching 3 passes for 33 yards.

Tight Ends- B Chris Baker was the only one that was really a factor, catching 3 passes for 15 yards and a touchdown.

Offensive Line- B- The line has to get credit for keeping Chad Pennington on his feet for most of the game, only giving up one sack. However, they must be partially blamed as well for the continued lack of a running game. They will mature, but it will take time.

Defensive Line- C-

The defensive line had a bad game, allowing Willis McGahee to amass a career high in rushing, all the while never mounting a real threat to JP Losman with a pass rush.

Linebackers- C+ Eric Barton made his presence felt with 7 tackles, and Jonathan Vilma added 6 tackles. They did make their presence felt, however, they never disrupted the running game or the passing game.

Defensive Backs- B+

The B+ comes mainly from Kerry Rhodes, who had 2 sacks and forced 2 fumbles, and was generally the only one that made life difficult for JP Losman. However, he had no help, with Losman throwing for over 300 yards and a touchdown.

Punter- A

Ben Graham had another great game, leaving 4 punts inside the 20, and averaging over 48 yards per kick.

Kicker-A

Mike Nugent made all of his kicks.

Aren't you being a little nice to the defense. Losman goes over 300 and McGahee over 150. That's awful.
