New York Giants Are a Collapse Waiting to Happen

The New York Giants have done the same thing for the last 2 years. That's when they start off strongly, then collapse at the end, then leading to a first round exit. Let it be known that this year is no different. After a 6-2 start, the Giants are 9-5, but all 3 losses have come at home. Sounds familiar? Remember they lost a playoff game to the Carolina Panthers at home 30-0? The next year they lost their last 4 home games of the year en route to losing to the Philadelphia Eagles 23-20? Now it's 2007, and the Giants once again put themselves in a position to fail. All 5 losses involved terrible play by Eli Manning, even worse play by their receivers, and defending receivers.

The one key I mentioned in the last paragraph was home games. The New York Giants have a 3-4 home record, but have won 6 straight road games. But 6 wins on the road include the Redskins, Eagles, Bears, Lions, Dolphins*, and Falcons, all but the Redskins are terrible. They end the season with games at Buffalo, a 7-7 team with an upside for next season, and a home game against New England. So they could very easily be 9-7, and not in the playoffs if the Redskins or [[New Orleans Saints|Saints win out. Even if they do make it, pick your poison, you either go to Tampa Bay, who seem to have bounced back after a terrible season last time, or go to Seattle, in which the Giants have never beaten in their trips to Qwest Field. They had a perfect shot at the division in their second game against the Cowboys, but the defensive breakdowns and poor QB play have time and time again killed them.

The road to the playoffs is even tougher when you consider that not only is the defensive unit banged up, they've lost Jeremy Shockey for the year, and Tiki Barber retired. Those were the guys that have been the key whenever Eli Manning lives up to the "unstoppable" tag. Now they're gone, and once again, a team that started off as elite, is now in danger of a 3rd straight wild card exit, and that could spell doom for Tom Coughlin.

Note: The * next to the Dolphins means the game was played in England.

Two other athletes they use for these ads are Luke Donald and Emeka Okafor. Which ad guru picked these "unstoppable" athletes?

I feel for you brother. I am a Detroit Lions fan. This season, at halfway mark, they were 6-2. They have lost the last 6 games. Makes me want to puke.

The Giants are OVERRATED. Buffalo always brings it every game so if the Giants think they're going to win tomorrow playing hard for 20 minutes out of 60, they're in for a beatdown.

If the Giants beat buffalo, they will be 3-1 in their last 4 games going into the final one. That is hardly collapsing. Meanwhile, Mike Shanahan started out 6-2 last year and MISSED the playoffs, and will miss them again this year and the press will make it sound like only coughlin chokes and loses his team.

It's true they've lost games at home. They also set a record this year by winning 7 straight on the road. It's a tough team to figure out.But I've rooted for them for over 40 years and I can't stop.
