New Feature - Easily Add Media to MLB Player Pages

Hey folks,

We've added some new features that makes it real easy to spruce up player pages with picture and video galleries.

If you scroll down the page of any MLB player that has been recently converted, you will see links to add under the headings "Picture Gallery" and "Video Gallery".

For Pictures

  1. Go to the player's page.
  2. Click "Add Pictures". This gives you two options: (a) you can search properly licensed photos from Flickr and choose which ones you want to import, or (b) you can do a regular browse and upload with an image from your computer. Both methods will automatically tag the images uploaded with the page you came from so they will appear in the gallery. We suggest trying the Flickr importer:
  3. The "Search" box will be pre-populated with the player's name (but you may want to try variations). Just click "Search" and wait for the results.
  4. Check the boxes next to the pictures you want to import. Don't forget the "next" link at the bottom of the page.
  5. The pictures will be shown on the right side of the screen. Click "Import Images" when you're done.

That's it! You've added pictures to your player's page.

For Videos

  1. Again, go to the player's page.
  2. Click "Add Videos". This gves you two options: (a) you can search YouTube and choose which ones you want to import, or (b) you can cut and paste the url or embed code of video sites that we are currently supporting. This includes YouTube, GoogleVideo, metacafe, and MyspaceTV. Both methods will also automatically tag the videos uploaded with the page you came from so they will appear in the gallery. We suggest trying the YouTube importer:
  3. The "Search" box will be pre-populated with the player's name (but you may want to try variations). Just click "Search" and wait for the results.
  4. Check the boxes next to the videos you want to import. Don't forget the "next" link at the bottom of the page.
  5. The pictures will be shown on the right side of the screen. Click "Import Videos" when you're done.

That's it! You've added videos to your player's page.

Note: We have created a new way of handling videos, so we will post more on that in a bit.

Want to see a page that can turn out pretty cool? Check out Andy Pettitte and David Wright's pages.

We have a list made up of MLB Players who returned some results from YouTube searches. That way we can get organized and start up a new project. For now, just play around with it and let us know what you think!
