Born on March 15, 1928 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, Nellie King (Nelson Joseph King) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 4 year career. King broke into the bigs on April 15, 1954 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 2.98 ERA in 54.1 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Nellie King's best season was 1956, when he posted a 3.15 ERA.
