Born on January 24, 1958 in Kansas City, Kansas, Neil Allen (Neil Patrick Allen) played for the New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 11 year career. Allen broke into the bigs on April 15, 1979 with the New York Mets, and put up a 3.55 ERA in 99 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Neil Allen's best season was 1980, when he posted a 3.70 ERA, notched 22 saves and struck out 79 batters.
