Detroit Tigers infielder Neifi Perez, already suspended for 25 games because he tested positive for a banned stimulant, has now been suspended for 80 games for his third positive test. Yes, you heard me right. THIRD.

Seriously, this guy must hate playing baseball. He has to. They say you learn from the mistakes you make? Not Neifi. Noooooooooooooooo. He just looooooooooves those performance enhancing drugs. Apparently he's taking the wrong ones, because a) he still sucks and b) he got caught.

Bud Selig must be thrilled right now. He's travelling the state of California chasing Barry chasing Aaron, and now he has this doofus to be the posterboy for MLB's drug testing policy. "Look! A guy is missing half the season because he tested positive! He's feeling the wrath of the testing policy! I rule my league with an iron fist! NEAGH!"

Too bad this guy blows. Good luck, Neifi. Enjoy being the punchline for endless performance-enhancing jokes for the next month or so. Until we all forget about you.

According to ESPN it was banned stimulant. An Amphetamines is a stimulant that could be used for ADHD disorders...or it could be ephedrine related...hard to say...

I think that's what the policy is actually, but it's different for what Neifi tested positive for. I think, for the broad policy, it's 50 on the 1st test, 100 on the 2nd test, and banned for life on the 3rd.

He was busted for using Stimulants...and the policy is different...in fact the first instance isn't reported at all, they just need to go to counseling...its more like drug abuse than performance enhancement

In all semi-seriousness, it's not as much Neifi's idiocy (he's an idiot, but there are others like him) as it is MLB's lack of explaining/clarifying to the non-American players what the hell the rules are...

"Over the counter" in Latin America means nothing...

And I've been wondering, because it's happened in the olympics before.... Anyone counting down the days until baseball's first "someone tainted me!" scandal (with non-Palmiero evidence) breaks?

If Barry can rub the "clear" on, how long until someone rubs something on someone (it's as easy as a handshake) in order to purposely get them busted?

Romie - there is not much evidence that Rose bet against his team (at least not to lose). He bet with the spreads when Mario Soto pitched, but bet on his team to win...

Rose was a gambler, not a cheater... and a cokehead and a horrible husband and father and a tax cheat and obviously a terrible liar with a bad haircut (should have stuck with the flat top all his life)

Rose wanted to win everything he could. If he had half the sense of Michael Jordan (also a gambler and horrible husband) - and not bet on his sport, he would be a hero today!

I have things about roids enhancing eyesight and eye-hand coordination...not sure about the truth...but if thats true, then it would help you hit the ball...

the big thing steroids to is get you through a season...they help you heal faster, and more effectively...that same effect that helps you build muscle (by tearing it down and rebuilding it) also applies to a lot of bodily reconstructive process

Therefore, the reason bonds (who may have been on roids for a very long time...regardless of growth) is able to approach 755 may have more to do with him playing a lot because roids helped him play a ton of games
