[edit] Biography

Born on December 25, 1925 in Ney, Ohio, Ned Garver (Ned Franklin Garver) played for the St. Louis Browns, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Athletics and Los Angeles Angels over the course of his 14 year career. Garver broke into the bigs on April 28, 1948 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 3.41 ERA in 198 innings pitched in 1948, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Ned Garver's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1951, when he posted a 3.73 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 84 batters. However, others believe that it was 1954, when he posted a 2.81 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 93 batters.
