Major League Baseball is set to announce today that a group of investors lead by D.C. real estate developer Ted Lerner will purchase the Washington Nationals for $450 million. The team has been league-owned since Jeffrey Loria, now owner of the Florida Marlins gave it back to the league for $120 million.

its good for baseball, Washington is such a big market and now a private organization can invest in the Nats future.

And what a coincidence, an old buddy of Selig's, Stan Kasten, is part of that Lerner's group. That's a shocker. It'd be better for baseball if the team was sold to someone who didn't have "Commissioner's Tool" written across his forehead.
