Born on September 30, 1913 in Pembroke, North Carolina, Nate Andrews (Nathan Hardy Andrews) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Boston Braves, New York Giants and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 8 year career. Andrews broke into the bigs on May 1, 1937 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.57 ERA in 283.2 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Nate Andrews's best season was 1944, when he posted a 3.22 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 76 batters.
