2004: HR: 36 RBI: 106 AVG: 286 SO: 131
2005: HR: 48 RBI: 130 AVG: 321 SO: 139
2006: HR: 35 RBI: 121 AVG: 290 SO: 139

Ok, We can agree those are great stats correct? Over 2 years we have an average of 43 HRs, 119 RBIs, A .299 AVG and 136 SO over 3 years.

If you know who this is, please tell me, obviously I do. Now why would *certain* fans boo a player like this on a constant basis? It baffles me, to have a player put up numbers like this would help my team (the Phillies) In an instant! It's extremely ignorant to boo this player.

So, I ask you, explain to me WHY they boo him.

Quite honestly, there isn't enough space on this page to explain it. And to outsiders, some of the reasons wouldn't make sense anyway.

LOL I find that as an excuse for anyone who truly thought he wasnt worth teh trade, and are now covering their tracks. And kelsdad, please to try to explain. I am a big fan of A-Rod and never understood why ya'll boo him. He puts up MVP numbers and plays his heart out (even plays Bush league style to get wins ;P).

He's not Derek Jeter, and he embodies the recent Yankees strategy of throwing money at a championship (which they've started to get away from in the past year or two). I think Yankees fans blame A-Rod for not winning a championship since 2000, and point to his postseason struggles as the reason they don't win in the playoffs.

I think Alex Rodriquez sold his "heart" a hell of a long time ago when he left Seattle for Tom Hicks' bank vault. Richest Contract in MLB History = 0 World Championships.

Again, are you kidding me? Wasn't the book on booing perennial all-star Hall of Fame third baseman written in Philadelphia? How can a fan of the team that BOOED Mike Schmidt make fun of Yankee fans booing ARod. Schmidt didn't even have the huge contract to engender such hatred.

Hmm Mike Schmidt Quotes about Philly:

"If you're associated with the Philadelphia media or town, you look for negatives. I don't know if there's something about their upbringing or they have too many hoagies, or too much cream cheese. "

"They read their sports pages, know their statistics and either root like hell or boo our butts off. I love it. Give me vocal fans, pro or con, over the tourist types who show up in Houston or Montreal and just sit there. "

Mets fans wish they had the love of their teams like Philly fans do...want to know why Philly Fans boo...

Try this: Ever see a dad who puts pressure on his son and wants him to succeed more than anything, has him practice every day, constantly criticism him, constantly expects more, constantly says that wasn't good enough, show me more (even though what he just did was pretty damn good), but in the end he loves his son more than anything and wouldn't let anyone else do anything to him, criticize him or hurt him and wants to see him succeed more than anything else....

That's the life of a philly fan...

You really have ti stop giving me negatives for pointing out the truth. It is bad form. The fact of the matter is that Phillies fan spent an awful lot of time booing Mike Schmidt. One of the reasons was that he had a tendency to hit meaningless homeruns when the team was down 9-1. So pointing out the level of hypocrisy in making fun of Yankee fans for booing Arod for the same reason does not deserve a negative. Grow up.

What dumb thing did I say? That it is hypocrisy to make fun of Yankee fans for booing Arod when Philadelphia fans used to boo Mike Schmidt. I know the truth hurts, but you need to deal with it now or your therapy bills will be huge in the future. But we know that you won't go to therapy. You will just get fat on cheesesteaks and Yuengling, never move from your couch, and cry about all the times you almost won.

Well...

The article doesn't mention Mike Schmidt at all, why'd you bring him up...jealous?

Then...you made this utterly competent comment: "Isn't that kind of like the drunk who only beats his wife because he loves her do damn much? " Yeah, its the exact same thing Way to get it right...

I'm sorry I didn't live in jersey or new york or wherever and pick the teams that were winning at the time to like...

I have no problem with any NY/NJ team, but don't go ripping my favorite teams because you don't like them...

Ok. I didn't realize that I had to spell it out for you. This article is written by a Phillies fan. It is making fun of Yankee fans for booing Arod when Arod has great numbers. The hypocrisy is, of course, that Philly fans have a long history of booing great players. Most notably, they used to boo Mike Schmidt. Understand?

You then went on some rant about how Philly fans are neanderthals because they just love their teams so much. To me, that is kind of like the drunk husband who beats his wife because "he loves her too much."

I don't know what more I can do to explain it to you short of drawing actual pictures.

I disgress...like i said before, it doesn't mention mike schmidt anywhere and the fact that a philly fan wrote this is irrelevant...the artle and its content would be the same, as would the question...if a brewers fan or a giants fan or a mets fan wrote it...what would you say then? If you don't understand my analogy, then just forget it...some people never will understand...

Of course it is relevant that a Philly fan wrote it. A Cubs fan in the 90s would look awfully silly picking on the Red Sox for not winning a World Series, the same way a fan of a team that booed Mike Schmidt despite the fact that he was a perennial all-star looks pretty funny questioning why Yankee fans boo Arod.

I disagree...I don't think he's doing it as a phillies fan...there are at least 28 other teams that would take a-rod (minus the contract)... For the record, I didn't give you a minus on that last one...so don't look at me...

besides, the reason any player who plays that well gets booed nowadays is because he's paid a ton...basically, if he doesn't bat .350, with 50 home runs and 150 RBIs with at least 10 memorable game winning hits, he's a failure for the 27 mil he's making this year

Who's making fun of fans? I asked for an explaination. You deserve your negative scores because your general hatred and stereotypical thinking of Philly fans such as my self get in the way of logics and truth.

I didn't make fun of any Yankee fans. Half my family grew up as either Met or Yankee fans.

In any case, to make such an analogy about an abusive husband somehow relating it to baseball is stupid. I can already tell I can almost disregard anything you say. You don't seem to be one of the more brighter members here. Just one of the more bias and hateful. Do me a favor, unless you have something intelligent to say, don't post in my topics.

And we booed Mike yes, but if you didn't read that quote, he loves it, look at Philly players today. They know we'll always be behind them 100%. They know when we boo they fuck up, and cheer madly when they do great. Phillies game have been selling out for the past 4 years. This team was revived when we go wind of Ed Wdes possible firing. I love what Gillick is doing as do most fans, so we're behidn them regardless of oour actions.

Mets fqans don't boo their players I guess? judging from your posts, you act as if Mets fans are always so nice. You don't boo Delgado when he strikes out *again*? You won't boo Endy Chavez if he doesn't make a simple play?

Grow up, stop being a child and think like an unbiased person, not like these idiot sports "experts".
