NFL draft hype

I love watching the NFL draft, but what I don't like is how the press and media talks about it from the day after the super bowl until a week after the draft. why do we need all that coverage? I don't know about everyone else, but by the day of the draft, I am usually tired of hearing about it, that takes away the joy of watching it, I don't think it is necessary for all of that coverage. I wouldn't mind it if it were maybe a month but I don't like the 2 and a half month coverage.

I also don't like how if a college player has one bad game, like Troy Smith, I don't think they should be bumped all the way down to the 3rd or fourth round, even if it was the BCS championship game that they screwed up in. I actually think that it was just a well-played game by the Florida Gators that won the game.

All the guys on ESPN can stop with all the 1st overall selection hype, because it could be anybody that could go #1 overall, hey, maybe there's a team that feels the way I do and thinks that the Heisman trophy winner deserves another chance, although, I highly doubt that will happen. There are plenty of players that could go #1 overall, like Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Calvin Johnson, Joe Thomas, Adrian Peterson, Amobi Okoye. It really matters what the team's needs are. Like last year, everyone thought Reggie Bush was going 1st, but the Texans didn't need a Running back or a return man, yet they were all surprised when they took DE Mario Williams, who they actually needed to strengthen their weak D-line.

Overall, I am disappointed in all the draft hype and wish the draft would just get over with all ready, so I can start my 2007-2008 season preview (although its still early yet), and so the season would be that much sooner.
