NFL doing the right thing!

The NFL did something today that I was excited to hear. They denied Adam “Pacman” Jones in his request to return early from his suspension. This is one of the better things that the NFL has done. Why? I strongly agree with Roger Goodell’s policy on behavior and think it should be strongly enforced. He has suspended several players and I think has started to clean the league up, and there are no longer convicts playing the game when they shouldn’t be.

I also enjoyed hearing this because I realized that if a “normal” person was involved in something like Jones was involved in then they would most likely be temporally dismissed from work, and most employers would not allow that kind of behavior from their employees. The NFL should not either, and lately they have not.

This NFL stars should also be punished because they are setting bad examples for the youth of today. Lot’s of young kids look up to these guys, and we do not need kids thinking that to be cool they need to break the law. So by punishing these law-breaking athletes we are also letting the kids that watch and look up to these guys know that this behavior is unacceptable.

I like what Goodell is doing and I hope it continues.

"He has suspended several players and I think has started to clean the league up, and there are no longer convicts playing the game when they shouldn’t be." Hm, would you like to come down off the soapbox for a second to realize that Mr. Jones has yet to be convicted of a crime since he has been under NFL Contract? Pac Man has unfavorable habits and they have put him in some tough situations. However, until he is found guilty for a crime above a mistemeanor, I think his suspension has been unwarented and any money not paid to him due to the suspension he should be compensated for.

I don't know if I agree with you completely, but the fact is, he hasn't been convicted on any felonies yet.

How can this appeal process be considered fair when the commissioner has complete disciplinary control?

I think that it's a joke that they announce in week 15 that his year long suspension will continue. Ya think? You mean he's not going to be allowed back for weeks 16 and 17. Why is this even news?
