NFL announcers non stop babbling.

When you listen to an NFL game on TV, the announcers never stop talking about every possible trivia and fact they know, up too and including when the ball is snapped. Call the game, seldom do we hear, what the formation is, what to expect from the Defense. If you want details listen on the radio to the game the way the great radio announcers call a game, with detail and excitement. More time should be spent on explaining football jargon, so the new and experienced viewers can stay informed.

I don't think it's limited to the NFL. Listen to five minutes of Tim McCarver and you'll want to shoot someone. (Maybe they should put Juan Uribe in the booth?)

Some NHL, CFL, and especially NBA commentators drive me bananas with their banter.

Yeah, that would be nice, but it ain't going to happen. Fact is, sports are in the entertainment business. The fan that wants analysis is not the casual fan and will watch regardless of the babble. The babble appeals to casual fans who are watching for social reasons or because a friend is and it gives them reasons to watch... it is how it is. my ears must suffer.

He's right. Networks that carry sports are not interested so much in the fans like the ones here at the Chair. They are about being entertaining and getting the fringe fans to tune in. This is done by using "color commentary" people.

i'm still begging ESPN to put in that crew from the second game of the opening monday night double-header. that was the most tolerable crew i've ever heard on an

NFL game.

well, look on the bright side pro football fans, at least you don't have to suffer the dread that is Musburger.
