NFL Week 5 Predictions

For the radio show that I work for at school, every week we make a fairly big presentation of making our NFL picks for the upcoming week. And being the resident newbie in the whole deal, my picks are....generally not the best in the pack. But I've called some pretty awesome upsets, so I figured that I'd start copying my picks here, just for posterity.
And so when one of the picks that I made really pays off, I can go here and point and cause Ted, Jeff, and Kenny to bow to me.
First off, I want to make myself patently clear - I can't give any kind of professional analysis as to why I've made these picks for the week. In some cases, it simply comes down to the simple fact that....I'm not a fan of one of the teams involved. In some cases, I have some stats to back me up, but I'm by no means a scholar.
Just a sports fan who's also, like most of us, a pretty prolific Monday-morning Quarterback.
That being said: Picks for NFL Week 5
- The Bengals, the Raiders, the Vikings, and the Eagles are off this week. That'll give all of them time to review the playbook.
- Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans. I don't have a really definitive reason for choosing one over the other here, but my instinct tells me that the Texans are going to suck less than the Dolphins.
- Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs.
- Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots. Seriously. Do I even have to justify myself on this one? I think that there will come a game this season where New England is going to have it handed to them, and royally....but Cleveland is not going to be the team to do that.
- Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints. I said last week that if the Saints blew it, they'd get no more votes from me. But I couldn't bring myself to bid on Carolina. So they get one more last chance.
- New York Jets at New York Giants. Could you call this a Subway Series?
- Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams.
- Atlanta Falcons at Tennessee Titans. My reasoning on this one is that last week HAD to have been a fluke.
- Detroit Lions at Washington Redskins. Not to be a homer or anything, but the Skins haven't looked as bad this season as they did in previous seasons, and they've got the home field advantage this week. .....okay, so maybe I AM being a little bit of a homer here.
- Tampa Bay Bucs at Indianapolis Colts. Again, do I need to justify myself? Although I was on the fence about this one for a bit too; because Tampa Bay has more of a chance to upset Indy than Cleveland does against New England.
- San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos. This is what I refer to on the show as the Vortex of Suck Game of the Week. San Diego, four weeks into the season, are looking NOTHING like the team that they were last year. Denver's stats on the year aren't much better (I believe that they're 2-2 going into this week, as opposed to the Chargers' 1-3 record), which is why this game gets the VOS seal.
- Baltimore Ravens at San Fransisco 49ers. Sorry, San Fransisco fans, but...the team's just not that good.
- Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers. I don't know where the Packers have come from this season, but I have to say that I like it.
- Dallas Cowboys at Buffalo Bills. I think that the stats speak for themselves on this one.
Whether or not this week's picks turn out as badly as last week's remains to be seen. But one thing is for certain:
It's a lot easier than trying to call the race at Talladega this week.
