NFL Preseason changes

Every year around this time the debate rages of whether the preseason should be shortened or eliminated altogether. I am a fan of the New York Giants, and as many of you probably know they were decimated by injuries last night. I am NOT a fan of cutting down the preseason games. I do believe that it is unnessasary to get star, or important players hurt in the preseason.

I do not understand peoples gripes over players getting hurt in preseason. Is it not the teams choice to play their starters? Some important players are held out of preseason games altogether (Ladanian Tomlinson). Every team could do this if they wanted to, they are not forced to play their starters. The preseason is for players that are trying to make the team, so as an NFL team why would you play anybody other than these players.  My point is that next time a player on your favorite team gets hurt, before you blame the NFL for having to long of a preseason blame your team for playing your starters.

I would like to add that Im not sure if their is a limit on how many players are allowed on preseason rosters. I know cutdowns are to be made by August 28 down to 75. If their is a limit I would suggest getting rid of it so teams could have more players and be able to keep more depth so they have the choice to sit their starters altogether.

The reason most teams feel pressured to play their stars for at least as eries or two is because they charge a good amount of money for preseason tickets and need to make sure the fans don't feel totally ripped off. As always, it comes down to money. NFL teams should keep the preseason as long as it is, but slash ticket prices down to $10-$20 and make it perfectly clear that star players getting on the field in the preseason will be the exception, not the norm. That way the best players will have a much better chance of staying healthy through training camp, but teams will be able to look at a lot of young players.

The truth is that if your paying full price for a preseason ticket your getting ripped off anyway.

The CFL has a home and home preseason format. The NFL should so something like that.

I am only farmiliar with the term home and home as a baseball term. I am not sure but does that mean you play the same team twice, once at their stadium, once at yours? If that is what it means then I am not a fan of that switch. I would rather play two different teams, so you can see a higher amount of matchups.
