NFL Preseason Week 4 (Finally... we are almost to real games!)

The NFL preseason games have lost a great deal of attention (from me and most of sports media) this week due to the start of college football. It’s hard to get excited about watching scrimmages between the 2 nd and 3 rd strings of professional teams while college games that matter are on. So for this reason, I’ll just do a short list of things to look for in NFL Preseason Week 4. This is usually the week in which starters play the very least. By this time the starters are already looking ahead to the opening game of the regular season (like most of us fans), and the coaches are giving as many play opportunities as they can to the back-ups in order to figure out who needs to be cut. NFL coaches will have to cut 22 of their players this weekend (right now they have 75 players on each team and they have to get down to 53 before the regular season begins). So this is the chance to see which players will be playing football in the NFL and which players will be playing Madden on the xbox.
But in case you are still interested in week 4 of the NFL preseason, here are a few things going on:
Washington Redskins at Jacksonville Jaguars
Mark Brunell, who was the QB for the Jaguars for 9 years, now plays for the Redskins and returns to Jacksonville Thursday to take on the Jaguars. Brunell is competing with Todd Collins to be the 2 nd string QB for the Redskins behind Jason Campbell.
Kansas City Chiefs at St. Louis Rams
Hardly any starters will be playing much during this game, and the only thing that makes this game somewhat noteworthy is that Larry Johnson will be playing. Larry Johnson, the running back for the Chiefs, has finally ended his hold out (wanting a better contract) and will get to see some playing time for the first time this preseason. He probably will not play very much though.
Miami Dolphins at New Orleans Saints
Again, most of the starters will sit, except the Saints will be letting wide receivers Marques Colston and Devery Henderson play some since the both missed the last 2 preseason games. (Colston has had soreness in the right knee, and Henderson has had a hamstring pull.) Another player to watch is the Saints first round draft pick, wide receiver Robert Meachem. Meachem will definitely make the roster, but he still has a lot to prove after in order to get playing time during the regular season.
Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans
The Titans coach Jeff Fisher is known for playing his starters a bit longer than most other coaches during week 4 of the preseason. This year will probably be no different since the starting running back positions seems to still be up in the air. Chris Brown and LenDale White are competing for the job, so we expect to see them both play, along with rookie running back Chris Henry. Vince Young (Titans QB) and Brett Favre (Packers QB) will probably both play, just not very long.
I'm sure there are other semi-interesting things going on that I've missed... I was just trying to scrounge up a few things to look for.
