With the draft in two days I thought I would make a mock draft to forecast where I believe all the top college talent will go. While there are certain things that everyone will agree with, hopefully there will be 2 or 3 selections that start some form of a debate.
1. Oakland: Jamarcus Russell- no surprise here, Oakland needs a quarterback and most people have Russell as the top rated passer. That being said I still believe Brady Quinn is a better prospect and should be better in the draft.
2. Detroit: Calvin Johnson- while i still believe that Detroit is eying to trade out of this spot, if they stay they have to select Johnson or for the first time in his career, Matt Millen will be criticized for NOT drafting a wide reciever.
3. Cleveland: Adrian Peterson- most people have Quinn here, but I think that the Browns have delusions that Charlie Frye is somehow the answer at quarterback. I believe they take Peterson to help Jamal Lewis this year, and then become the feature back next year.
4. Tampa Bay: Gaines Adams- now Brady Quinn is a posibility here, especially considering how John Gruden salivates over the thought of even mediocre quarterbacks(note Jake Plummer and Jeff Garcia) but I think he makes the smart decisin and take arguably the best defensive player on the board.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Joe Thomas- everyone has been saying for years now that the Cardinals are just a good offensive line away from the playoffs. While this is the first step towards building that, and the Cardinals thank their lucky stars that such a good prospect somehow fell into their hands.
6. Washington: Laron Landry- Washington needs a safety opposite Sean Taylor and Landry is the best on the board, enough said.
7. Minnesota: Brady Quinn- the Vikes remain angry that their favorite prospect is stolen from the right before they got a crack at him. But gladly take the best quarterback in this year's draft without complaint.
8. Atlanta: Jamaal Anderson- with the loss of Patrick Kerney the Falcons need a defensive end. Anderson is a great prospect and a great fit here.
9. Miami: Ted Ginn Jr.- with the loss of Welker the Dolphins find themselves needing both a wideout and a returner with good speed. This situation practically cries out Ginn's name.
10. Houston: Amobi Okoye- this kid is a personal favorite and I believe he will help relieve pressure from Mario Williams who is expected to fix the defensive line woes all by himself.
