NFL Labor Deal Approved

10
Vote

NFL owners approved the union's proposal. The only two owners to vote agaisnt the proposal were Ralph C. Wilson Jr., of the Buffalo Bills and Mike Brown of the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills owners voted against it. Each NFL team will have a $102 million salary cap in 2006, which will increases to $109 million in 2007. The deal will last through the 2011 season.

Nine teams put together the deal, including the high-revenue New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys. The deal will prevent many NFL teams from cutting scores of veteran players to stay below the salary cap.

I guess the owners did not want to risk the prospect of not having a salary cap in the future.

Both of the dissenting owners lack stadium naming rights deals, right?

i think the fans care more about the salary cap than the owners because it maintains the parity between the teams. this was more of a revenue sharing problem than a cap problem. too many bad owners.
