NFL Head Coaching Trees

11
Vote

by Ccampbell34

Coaches are listed with former assistants numbered lower below them and the head coaches under those assistants numbers lowered below them. Example 2.) Jim Fassel served under Bill Walsh

Schottenheimer ultimately deserves his own tree but is under Don Shula due to being an assistant to Bill Arnsparger, similar situations apply to Mike Holmgren, Bill Cowher and Tony Dungy.

Some brackets are exceptional such as Tony Dungy, others such as Mike Tice and Sam Wyche are not.

Interestingly, when Vince Lombardi was coaching football at a New Jersey high school in his early career, his best player was a kid named Mickey Corcoran. He taught Mickey lessons of coaching and sort of took him under his wing. Then, when Mickey was coaching at a different New Jersey high school later in his life, he himself took a good young player under his wing and taught him the lessons he'd learned from Lombardi. This young man was named Bill Parcells...
