NFL Flex Schedule in Effect

12
Vote

The NFL announced on Tuesday that the New York Giants - Chicago Bears game on November 12th at Giants Stadium will be played at 8:15 PM EST so it can be shown on NBC Sunday Night Football. The game was originally scheduled to be on FOX at 1PM.

CBS and Fox are allowed to "protect" 5 afternoon games over 7 weeks of "flexible scheduling", so that they can broadcast them on their network. However, the NFL is allowed to pick one game during each of these 7 weeks that they can potentially move to their prime time slot.

The Giants - Bears game is a great potential late playoff matchup againt two of the top teams in the NFC. The Bears can be undefeated at 8-0 by the time they visit Giants Stadium.

Although i think this sucks for people who might have planned going to the game at 4pm, its great for fans across the country to have the chance to see a great game

Because most Americans would say that that name has already been given to the Aussie Rules season...

A lot of Americans would have a similar distate for the Aussie Rules Football that you may have to the prospect of Sunday Night NFL Football. Hence they could/would have the same "who cares" attitude.

I like that millions of viewers at home can benefit from this flex scheduling and see better games, but at the same time that really sucks for people with tickets. Going from a pleasant afternoon out to a late night before work Monday morning a big switch.

There is no "flex" in getting a ticket refund. 8:00pm games are over late plus you have to get home which is usually around 1:00am on a work night. Flex this!!!!

I'd gladly be the person with tickets getting shafted, then the guy on his couch watching a better game. Its just a numbers game, piss off some of the 50,000 ticket holders or please millions of TV watchers.
