NFC All-Pro Third Team?

I wasn't even going to do the NFC one after I did the AFC and it didn't really illicit the responses I was going for when I had the idea, but I felt like the project was half-done and it was bugging me. Anyway, here is a list of what the NFC All-Snub Team could look like. I did this initially because I was wondering if the community thought that one of these teams could beat their Pro Bowl counterpart, but now it appears I did it for arguments' sake. Anyway, enjoy!

NFC

Offense

QB – Drew Brees– A slightly better QB rating, more yards and the same amount of touchdowns as Hasselbeck. If the team hadn’t started so poorly Brees would be on his way to Hawaii.

RB – Earnest Graham – The man who stepped in for an injury-riddled running back corps in Tampa and is currently second to Peterson in the NFC with 10 rushing TDs deserves some love.

FB – Leonard Weaver – Has really performed well this season taking over for the legendary Mack Strong. Too bad Alexander aged about 10 years over the course of last off season.

WR – Marques Colston – Another Saint having an under the radar great year. Currently he is 2 nd in receptions, third in receiving yards and fourth in touchdowns in the NFC. Actually, I think it’s a disgrace he’s NOT on the team. Colston is the Mario Williams of the NFC this year.

WR – Bobby Engram – Bobby edges out Greg Jennings and Plaxico because he’s doing more than just catching touchdowns.

TE – Donald Lee – For the first half of 2007 I swore this guy was a wide receiver every time I saw a Packers’ game or highlight.

T – Bryant McKinnie – Has teamed up with Steve Hutchinson to form possibly the best tackle guard combo in football.

G – Chris Snee – One of the biggest reasons the Giants haven’t seen a huge drop off in their run game despite Tiki Barber’s retirement.

C – Jamaal Jackson – Powerful center who actually took the starting spot from veteran Hank Fraley last season allowing the Browns to acquire Fraley when LeCharles Bentley went down with a knee injury. Thanks Jamaal.

G – Jahri Evans – The Saints have given up the fewest sacks in the NFL this season and the second year guard’s play is a big reason why.

T – Jordan Gross – Gross has played exceptionally well the last few years and deserves a spot because, unlike most tackles selected to the Pro Bowl, he plays right tackle and not left tackle.

Defense

DE – Trent Cole – Second in the NFC in sacks and the second most tackles amongst defensive lineman.

DT – Darnell Dockett – 8 sacks from the tackle position is always impressive, also happens to be tops among tackles in the NFC.

DT – Jovan Haye – Who? 3 rd year man out of Vanderbilt has had 60 tackles, 5 sacks and four fumble recoveries for a rejuvenated Tampa D.

DE – Adewale Ogunleye – Has been a steady force on a shaky Chicago Bears D this year with nine sacks, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

OLB – Michael Boley – Lone bright spot for the Atlanta Falcons this year. Boley has 106 tackles, three sacks, two picks and four forced fumbles.

MLB – London Fletcher – Heart and soul of the Redskins defense has 120 tackles, three picks and a touchdown this season.

OLB – Derrick Brooks – Quietly reminding the country that even in his 13 th season he can still get it done.

CB – Charles Woodson – Personally, I think Woodson is playing better than Al Harris this year.

SS – Chris Harris – The Panthers safety is leading all NFC defensive backs with 90 tackles and has eight forced fumbles, twice as many as the next closest defensive back.

FS – O.J. Atogwe –Tied with Marcus Trufant for most picks in the NFC.

CB – Nate Clements – Probably still the most physical and hard hitting cornerback in the league. Too bad he is stuck on one of the worst teams in the league.

Special Teams

P – Mat McBriar – Andy Lee is the man this year, but McBriar is right behind and does for a better team. Not that we need another Cowboy on the Pro Bowl team.

K – Mason Crosby – Has made more field goals than Nick Folk and, unlike Folk, doesn’t get to kick most of his indoors.

KR – Steve Breaston – Young, exciting returner for the Cards has over 1,000 punt return and kick return yards and a touchdown.

I'm glad you mention that it's more of an "all-snub" team, then just an NFC third team. Making 2nd and 3rd teams is dumb to me, always has been. Otherwise let's just but all the starters in the league on different "teams" 1-32... oh wait, that would be fantasy football.
