Here's my preseason playoff bracket... if there was a playoff in NCAA Football.
The Rules: Each conferences' champion gets into the playoffs + two at-large bids. The at-large teams are determined through a BCS like format which gives weighting from the coaches poll, AP poll, strength of schedule (determined by the rank of the team when the team plays them), and losses earn negative points. The seeding is determined by this same formula.
Round 1: |8 @ 1: LSU @ USC: #1 USC dominates LSU who squeaks into the playoffs. 35-14|
| 7 @ 2: Texas @ West Virginia: The Texas D can't slow down White and Slaton as they roll 24-10. McCoy is too green to face a new look like a 3-3-5 in the playoffs.|
|6 @ 3: Louisville @ Michigan: Louisville would light up the Michigan defensive backfield and the Cards D would hold off Henne-Hart-Manningham enough to squeak out a 35-28 win.|
| 5 @ 4: Tennessee @ Virginia Tech: The Vols can't score enough vs the Hokies D to win, a game of FG's and field position. UT 12- VT 17|
Semi-Finals: |4 Va Tech vs 1 USC (Fiesta Bowl): The stingy Tech D is no match for #1 USC as the Trojans roll 24-14|
|6 L'ville vs 2 West Va (Orange Bowl) Louisville's defense adjusts to White and Slaton and shuts down the run. West Va's pass defense is no match for Urrutia-Douglas-Barnidge the 2nd time around. Louisville 38- WVs 20|
Finals: |6 L'Ville vs 1 USC (Sugar Bowl): USC edges Louisville in a barn burner much like the Michigan vs Ohio State game from last year. #1 USC 45- Louisville 42. USC goes coast to coast as #1.|
Awards: Sugar Bowl MVP: JD Booty, QB, USC Playoff MVP: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville Coach of the tournament: Steve Kraigthorpe, Louisville
