NBA Playoffs Falling on Deaf Ears!

For David Stern, life has gone from the penthouse to definitely the outhouse. As his league dwindled down to it’s four on Friday, you suppose he was looking at the match-ups thinking "this is horrible", "this absolutely sucks"! Sure there’s still the Detroit Pistons in the East and the San Antonio Spurs in the West, but that’s all Big Dave has. The two best overall (record wise) teams in the West are teeing it up as I peck at my keyboard…The defending Champions Miami Heat, well thanks for the cameo…And really, what nice job at defending the title, you guys did awesomr! Is it just me, but doesn’t these playoffs feel like…Well, we’re watching paint dry? Especially now with the final four, it seems as if they’re hanging around like wallpaper.

Don’t get me wrong, Golden State had a hell of a run setting their place in league history…And giving folks a damn good reason to stay up to the wee hours of the morning on the East Coast. Seeing Utah back in the Conference Finals is a nice story and give credit to Jerry Sloan…and well, Phoenix/San Antonio series, that just goes without saying. Other than that, is it just me, but I’d rather be watching episodes of the "Flintstones" and "Looney Tunes", "Saved by the Bell: The New Class," (the new class of course), reruns of the "Brady Bunch" & "90210", respectfully.

Aside from the first round of matchups, for a league which is surrounded by enormous media attention, one would think at very the least shouldn’t they should have more viewers than WWE Raw, shouldn’t they? We’re talking about pro wrestling…Pro wrestling! Hey TNT, you may want to give Vince McMahon a holla. In all actuality, if one really thinks about it, perhaps Amare’ Stoudemire & Boris Diaw should’ve bashed Horry over the head with a chair. Maybe Steve Nash should’ve given Horry a flying elbow from off the scorers table.

Look, we all know it’s going to be likely a Spurs-Pistons Finals will transpire quite simply because they’re the two better teams…But what happens if it doesn’t? What happens if it’s a Cavs-Jazz Final? Look, I’m cheering for that too simply because I’d like to see egg on David Stern’s face, but unfortunately we all know this won’t happen…And it doesn’t have anything to do with basketball! (Please refer to the 2006 NBA Finals or to your Webster’s Home Edition under "Scripted"…You know, something the WWE is) The NBA viewership has suffered enough this postseason for a matchup like that to ever happen.

The NBA Finals is the league’s only hope of drawing fans back to the boob tube and a Jazz/Cavs Finals…Well, I‘d rather give a cat a bath. It’s funny too, I keep hearing about how LeBron James has all this star power and he’s the face of the league…No he’s not! Why if he was this indeed, the league would love nothing more than to have Cleveland on center stage in the Finals, but the truth of the matter is, less people than nobody, (whatever that is) would watch! For a league that’s so star driven, who capitalizes on this whenever they get a chance…One thing’s obvious. The WWE seems to have more collection of stars in their ring than the NBA has on the hardwood. See, it’s one thing to market oneself by any means necessary…It’s another thing to pull the wool over people’s eyes pretending you have such a great product to sell as in the NBA world. Remember years back when the NBA used one of their ad slogans as "The NBA, It’s Fantastic!" Too bad those were the good ole days! Facts are facts…And ratings are ratings! Nothing is "fantastic" in the NBA is great anymore! If it was this country keeps getting egg on it’s face in international competition! Sorry to say, but David Stern, your basketball product has fallen on deaf ears! Things haven’t got as bad like they are in the NHL, but at this rate…It’s not out of the realm of possibilities! Maybe that’s why you caused so an uproar in the Spurs/Suns series…To finally get noticed!

No, King James can demand an audience. It's D-Wade, Melo, and King James that are the faces of this league right now.

Beyond that, three good teams remain in Detroit, San Antonio, and Cleveland. These playoffs have actually been pretty good. I'm no Basketball fan, but I still find myself checking the scores on all the games every day.
