My Second Draft of 2007

That’s it, two leagues is enough for me to manage. I will play in weekly cash competitions, however, trying to manage more than two teams for an entire season is way beyond what time will allow.
Anyway, going into this draft I was expecting the 3rd overall selection, but the manager forgot to put in the draft order so naturally it went to auto-draft. No big deal, I ended up with the 12th overall selection, but everything went fine and I think I had a decent draft. Twelfth is one of the toughest positions to draft from, but when people haven’t utilized the material out here such as, “Making the Correct Decisions” things got a whole lot easier.
For example; in my first article of “Making the Correct Decision” I matched Frank Gore or Joseph Addai, two players who are bound to ‘bump heads’ when it’s your turn to draft. In the poll Addai won the battle with 55% of the votes. In the first round of this draft Gore managed to go 5th while Addai went behind him at number six. As stated in my articles this type of dilemma will make or break an entire fantasy season, therefore, we’ll see what happens by the end of the season.
In my next segment I used McGahee or Parker as players who would remain on the board and Parker lived up to his poll status (53%) with the tenth selection while McGahee slipped to twelfth where I selected him. It is difficult to go against a proven runner such as Parker, but in my series I had McGahee as the better option and one player that I was happy to get.
In the second round I decided to go with Laurence Maroney with the 13th pick while Travis Henry continued to slip further down the board. In this “Making the Correct Decision” Maroney won the poll with 56 percent. This could’ve gone either way, Henry is on a run dominant team and a proven runner in the right situation, while Maroney is still young, a possible bum shoulder, and on a team that has many weapons. Much to my surprise Henry fell to the 16th pick to FIOmatt.
During the first round I was faced with a true dilemma and one of my own making. Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne remained on the board and it was my turn to draft. I took this one to the last second and finally hit the draft button. This decision could definitely make or break me but my ego would not allow me to draft Wayne. In this match-up of “Making the Correct Decision” Wayne won this poll by a landslide as a 74% favorite. Big difference so we’ll see how this works out come seasons end.
This was a fun draft since I believe everyone kinda knew each other and there was a whole lotta trash talkin. I even chimed in as soon as someone drafted Jerious Norwood with their 3rd selection. Not saying any names, but I instantly stopped when they threatened to cut my feed.
It was fun and a great group of guys. Fantasy Insider Online is the commissioner of the league and definitely worth playing with.
Here’s a look at my team with the 12th overall selection.
